Marina Alves (São Paulo, 1993) is a photographer and visual artist.
The invisible and the absence are recurring themes in my work and are points of departure. The unfolding and relations of the invisible with the individual memory and the space in which it is inserted are part of her research.
She uses darkroom techniques and engravings to create apperceptive (latent/emergent) images that emerge with the passing of time, whether physical or subjective. These creations are sustained in multiple forms through the corners of houses, the carvings on matrices, the gestures made on plates covered with inks, the chemicals used for developing films, the expired photographic emulsions.
Her experimentation processes are materialised in artist's books creating a space for dialogue and an approximation between the work and the reader.
